Yay! Nice opening game

The big news isn't that we won, but that we have a captain! Last year, the Rangers went the entire season without a captain. Mark Messier retired, but his number hadn't been retired yet and was planned and I guess it just seemed wrong to have a new captain before The Captain was officially said goodbye to. Tonight right before the game, the C was sewn on to Jaromir Jagr's jersey.

I wasn't sure how I'd feel about Brendan Shanahan coming to NY. I've spent a long time not liking him because he played for "the enemy." After watching the game tonight, a combination of Jagr, Shanahan, Nylander and Prucha on one team is going to be pretty deadly. After having lived through 8 years without going to the playoffs, I was in heaven last year when they made it -- even though they got knocked out in the first round. Dare I say it? This year, I think the Rangers will have the wherewithal to go farther.

In knitting, I've completed the first item for CIC. I actually started it last night while I was watching other games and completed it tonight.

Oh Twig, you're going to love Shanahan, believe me! He's got a deadly shot, I saw that during the Olympics - if the others' defense will ever let him take a step on his own, he'll score, there's no doubt about it. Plus he's perfect in doing Penalty Shots - a pretty important thing indeed! And yay for Jagr being C of the team now - I know he never wanted to do it as he obviously feared the responsibility - but he'll be doing a great job! Go Rangers! ;)
